The question if and to whichextent shortening or prolonging the finisher phase at theexpense of the grower phase wouldimpact the performance and theprofitability in broiler productionwas investigated in a feeding trialconducted by Aviagen Ltd inScotland. The study was also undertaken tosee if potential effects of phaselength changes could be compensated for by adjustments of theamino acid supply. A total of 8,640 sexed day-oldmale and female Ross 308 broilerchicks were equally distributed to 96floor pens (90 chicks/pen). The trialdiets were formulated according tothe Ross recommendations (seeTable I).
