On October 26, 2001 is the 100~(th) anniversary of the death of Arthur Peter Konig, assistant and coworker of Helmholtz and color physicist/physiologist of renown. Suffering since birth from a painful and progressive spinal deformity, Konig's life was regrettably short: he was only 45 when he died and could have contributed significantly more to the development of color science had fate been more generous to him.
