Initial testing has been completed on the prototype of a new rope catcher for monocable circulating ropeways. Preventing haul rope deropement on the sheave trains of gondolas and chairlifts is a problem that has still not been entirely solved. There have been enough cases where today's standard rope catchers have not served their intended purpose, and the haul rope has slipped off the sheaves in free fall.
