At Canada's Queen's University (www. queensu.ca), researchers have created a human-sized 3-D videoconferencing system that allows people in different locations to participate in a video conference as if they were standing in front of each other. The Telehuman system, which was developed by professor Roel Vertegaal and a team of researchers at Queen's Human Media Lab, comprises a pair of 1.8-m-tall translucent acrylic cylindrical pods with embedded Microsoft Kinect sensors.
