Occidental Petroleum offered further details on Thursday of a major oil and gas discovery it has made in the company's home state of California. "We believe this to be the largest new oil and gas discovery made in [California] in more than 35 years," Chief Executive Ray Irani said during a conference call with analysts and investors on the company's second quarter earnings.
