Russia and Turkey have revived proposals to expand the Blue Stream gas pipeline, designed to move Russian gas to Turkey across the Black Sea - although the plan to add an extra 8 billion cubic meters per year of capacity seems to be motivated more by politics than economic realities. Discussions on the so-called Blue Stream- 2 pipeline, which would enable Russia to deliver gas to Israel, were held last week by Alexei Miller, the head of Russian state Gazprom, and Turkish Energy Minister Hilmi Guler. "Our joint position is that the Blue Stream-2 project is absolutely realistic," Miller said after the talks.
