Vast deployment of commercial-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects will not come to fruition before 2030, missing the 2020 political target set by Brussels by a decade or more. What's more, the technology is unlikely to become anything more than a niche sector, unsustainable without public funding support, says one expert.
