In novation and investment at the ports is critical to the success of the New Zealand forest industry as it relies increasingly on being a dependable exporter. One of the companies at the forefront of applied innovation and investment is ISO Limited,formerly known as International Stevedoring Operations Limited. Ross Jensen, commercial manager for the company, told in-wood that innovation is one of the company's key points of difference. "I think it is because we are basically a family company. When a customer comes to us with a challenge or an opportunity we are able to make decisions quickly and target investment." Employing 400 staff across seven port operations, ISO Limited is one of the largest handlers of New Zealand's forest exports, offering stevedoring and marshalling services, among others, for kraft pulp, veneer, LVL, plywood, green sawn timber and containerised kiln-dried timber, as well as its large log stevedoring operation.
