摘要

Any mechanised production process can remain onlyone of the two states, e.g.; working state or non working state. Ifthe transition from one state to the other can be defined as astochastic process, the state probabilities of the process can bedetermined with the help of Markov modelling technique. Twocases of surface mine operations are consider to find the abovestate probabilities. The system effectiveness or productionpotential is then found out. It is interesting to note that thecombination of working and non-working states change theoperating stripping ratio of the mine when compared to thedesignated stripping ratio of the mine.
