A new flying thickness control system has beendeveloped, with a new AGC system, for a tandem cold mill withslow response actuators. Stabilized rolling with high thicknessaccuracy was achieved, without interstand tension disturbances, bythe following means:? New AGC system controllers.? Automatic selection of most suitable controller mode for eachproduct type.? New on4ine model for predicting interstand tensiondisturbances during flying thickness change.These improvements have strengthened the capabilities of thefacility to meet customer requirements.
