Fundamentally, architecture is an art that is geometrical in nature. Architects and engineers seek to resolve the real purpose of any staircase (to convey people in safety on a route through multi-level buildings) on structures that, hopefully, impress building owners and users, are frequently innovative and often have a dramatic visual impact.
