摘要

The global telecommunications satellite market jumped 40 in 2006 compared with the period 2001-2005, according to Astrium vice president marketing telecom satellites Olry Gerard, who estimates the total market at 27 contracts for commercial geostationary satellites, worth around $3 billion. According to a study of the institutional space sector by the Euroconsult consulting firm, government space spending broke through the $50 billion barrier in 2006, with slightly more than half ($27.8 billion) allocated to civil programmes. The US accounts for the lion's share of the total, with $38.5 billion. The study notes the increasing space budgets of a number of established and aspiring space powers, such as Russia, which has boosted its civil space spending from $195 million to $821 million over the period 2001-2006; India, which has doubled space spending over the same period, from $406 million to $813 million; and China, which is investing massively in space, though exact budget figures are difficult to pin down.
