摘要

Gross value added in German manufacturing industry grew at a much weaker rate in the 1990s than did output in the same sector. While output increased by an average of 4% per annum (at current prices) between 1995 and 2000, the growth rate for gross value added over the same period amounted to only just over half this figure (2.2%). The gap was even wider in the automobile industry, where output grew by 10.5% per annum in the second half of the 1990s, compared with only a 3% increase in gross value added. These figures have led to the suggestion that value added is increasingly being replaced by imports.
