SAIL has decided to appoint global consultants to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) on expansion and development of the controversial China iron ore mines. The decision has been approved by the company's board. Following this, a global tender will be floated for selecting project consultants. Apre-bfd conference for prospective bidders is also scheduled to be held shortly. The environment impact assessment study for China has been concluded and Sail has made an application for a no-objection certificate, for which the public hearing has been already conducted. Preparation of a mining plan by Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) is under process.
