摘要

To determine effects of litterfall of a vine species Freycinetia formosana Hemsley on soil ecosystems, we measured the mass of litter accumulating on the ground surface, and examined the effects of litter accumulation on the number of soil fauna individuals, the nitrogen dynamics through the litter decomposition processes, and the microbial biomass N in the soil, using an enclosure experiment. We found that this vine which attaches to trees increased the mass of total litter 1.5-fold, and doubled theamount of leaf litter on the ground surface at the bases of trees with the vine. The increase in accumulated litter affected the number of soil animal individuals and increased both the decompositional rate of litter of Castanopsis sieboldii and the release of N from leaf litter C. sieboldii. However, it did not influence the microbial biomass N in the soil.
