摘要

Velocity of detonation (VOD) of explosives gives a good indication of the strength and its performance. The process of explosion is extremely fast and destructive in nature. This paper presents and discusses the design of sensor with its appropriate electronics based on dynamics of explosion. It also lists and compares existing principles of VOD measurement and practice followed worldwide. Dautriche method is most commonly used. The technique explored here for VOD measurement is one of the easy, cost-effective and accurate methods with abilities to work with cartridge as well as with bulk explosive. The proposed design incorporates measures to provide a practical instrument giving direct reading of VOD. Discrete resistors continuous-type sensor is a new technique for VOD measurement. Stages in the design of sensor are illustrated. Several tests on site are conducted to calculate VOD.
