The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has accused Houston-based Green Diesel LLC of generating and selling more than 60 million fake renewable energy credits for biodiesel that was never produced, according to the Governors’ Biofuels Coalition. EPA alleges the company produced the credits under the renewable fuel standard, which offers refiners, importers and exporters of renewable fuel a credittrading program to comply with yearly renewable volume requirements. The credits are currently worth US$84 million.
