Two thousand megawatts of coal-fired power has an uncertain future following collapsed negotiations between government and the generation industry. The Federal Government ended negotiations with five power generators - three based in Victoria, one in South Australia and one in Queensland - that expressed interest in a special fund aimed at rescuing "dirty" greenhouse gas emitters.Federal Resources Minister Martin Ferguson said a significant difference in opinion of asset value and the Government's funding envelope was the cause for the disagreement.
