A new polyvinyl chloride (PVC)/tetrathiafulvalene-tetracyanoquinodimethane (TTF-TCNQ) composite electrode was prepared and tested for electroanalytical performance. Different PVC/TTF-TCNQ-graphite proportions were used in order to obtain the best possible detector for accommodation in a wall-jet electrochemical cell of use in flow injection analysis. A PVC/fTF-TCNQ w/w ratio of 1/10 provided the best results in terms of sensitivity, coefficients of variation and mechanical resistance. The voltammetric and flow-injection amperometric detection responses of the electrode to ascorbic acid (AA) were measured and compared with those of a PVC-graphite electrode. The resulting electrode provided good electrode kinetics with a low background current and a relatively reproducible signal. In addition, the electrode can be readily prepared and its surface readily renewed.
