The growing concern in the market and public institutions for "green" issues is leading many firms to reorganize product development according to environmental issues. This article discusses how businesses can integrate the environment in standard design decisions. Effective management tools based on design techniques, such as design for recycling, design for dismantling, and design for disassembling, and operational procedures that support managers in the evaluation of green product design options are suggested.
