In the run-up to the UK's anticipated May 2010 general election, the government has unveiled plans to boost investment in renewable and nuclear energy to help stimulate economic growth and, ultimately, deliver the country's self-imposed goal of cutting carbon emissions by 34% from 1990 levels by 2020, and 80% by 2050.
