Revealing the untold design stories behind some of the world's most famous buildings, the V&A recently staged the first ever major retrospective on Ove Arup (1895-1988), the most influential engineer of the 20th century, as part of its 'Engineering Season'. The V&A has been celebrating the life and legacy of the 20th century's greatest engineer Ove Arup (1895-1988), staging the first ever retrospective on the philosopher-engineer. Through his pioneering philosophy of Total Design, which for him meant to 'join all the professions right from the start', Arup redefined the way architects, designers and engineers work together.
