Motivated by the suppression on the lithium dendrite formation by the addition of an ionic liquid of N-methyl-N-propylpiperidinium- bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (PP13TFSI) into the poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)-LiN(SO_2CF_3)_2 (LiTFSI) electrolyte, the stability and the electrochemical performance of a water-stable lithium metal electrode composed of Li/PEO_(18)LiTFSI-1.44PP13TFSI/Li _(1x)yTi_(2-x)Al_xP_(3-y)Si_yO _(12) (LTAP) is examined in an aqueous solution. A lithium/air cell with a configuration of Li/PEO18LiTFSI-1.44PP13TFSI/LTAP/aqueous 1 M LiCl solution/Pt air was stable and exhibited a significantly reduced electrode resistance of 113 cm~2 compared to Li/PEO_(18)LiTFSI/LTAP/ aqueous 1 M LiCl solution/Pt air of 500 cm~2, and exhibited low lithium deposition and striping polarization potentials of less than 0.3 V during charge and discharge at 0.3 mA cm~(-2) for 100 cycles at 60C.
