摘要

Lymphoma is the most common neoplastic presentation that is medically treated in veterinary patients. An astonishing 0.36% of canine patients and approximately 0.2% of feline patients develop lymphoma. The cause is unknown in most cases. There are isolated reports of familial lymphoma in dogs and a viral cause has never been identified. In cats the feline leukaemia virus (FeLV) is responsible for causing a number of cases of lymphoma. The profile of FeLV-induced lymphoma has changed dramatically overthe last 20 years (Louwerens et al., 2005) and this disease is certainly becoming less of an issue in the feline population in the UK.
