Nucor Hertford plate mill complex has now been running for 10 months and the extremely promising start has already been confirmed from excellence of production and quality results. Plate output constantly grows from just after the startup to the present values of about 50,000 t/month, and the full plant capacity is expected to be reached in the late summer 25 heats per day have been cast on several occasions and sequences of 15 heats have been repeated many times proving again the reliability of the plant (Fig. 1).
