Danieli Coras won six. orders for De-S systems in 2007 and three, to date, in 2008. Most of the customers are in China. Some are existing clients who have the Danieli Coras coinjection system running in their shops, while others are new customers who join the crowd after in-depth technical and commercial analysis, and comparison with other technologies and suppliers. A privately owned steel mill, an emerging sector in China, also is on the list this year in addition to the state-owned companies. This striking success has demonstrated the strong market position of Danieli Coras desulphurization technology. The Danieli Coras desulphurization technology uses magnesium and lime as reagents to remove sulphur from hot metal baths through dispensers and injection lances. Then, the slag containing the reacted sulphur is removed from the hot metal ladle with a skimmer. In addition to the above equipment, a typical system also contains a hot metal ladle transfer car and ladle tilter, reagent transporters and EIC equipment comprising instrumentation, MCC, PLC control, and a level 2 system. The dedusting and hydraulic power units are also essential parts of the system. Most of the mechanical equipment are driven hydraulically. Final sulphur levels of less than 20 ppm, or trace levels, can be achieved with this technique with no incoming sulphur level limitation.
