The available nutrients status and various fonns of potassium viz. water soluble-K, exchange-able-K, non-exchangeable-K, lattice-K and total-K were measured in some hilly zone paddy soils of Karnataka. Coroelation coefficient were calculated. The available nutrient status was found to be medium to high. Results on non-exchangeable form. The variation in the distribution of potassium depends upon the mineral present, particle size and degree of weathering. The available K (water soluble K plus exchange-able-K) is low to medium therefore for better crop performance, it is recommended to apply K fertilizers in splits to avoid leaching loss due to course textured soils and heavy rain fall condition.
