Tetanus is a highly fatal, infectious disease of man and all species of domestic mammals, caused by the toxin of Clostridium tetani. The horse is the most susceptible animal(Radostits et al.1994). Since the advent of routine vaccination against tetanus, the occurrence of the disease has decreased. However, it still occurs sporadivclly in horses and , therefore, equine clinicians are likely to encounter affected individuals(Green et al.1994).
