摘要

Egypt's berry sector, like the country's entire fresh produce industry, felt the impact of the political revolution that took place at the start of the year. The turmoil that gripped Egypt in the wake of political protests against president Hosni Mubarak saw the country's fresh produce trade all but grind to a halt at the beginning of the year, as an estimated Im civilians took to the streets of the country - leaving produce stranded in coldstorage facilities and some harvesting abandoned across thenorth African nation. With roads blocked and transport nonexistent, a curfew in place and facilities shut down, fresh produce companies endured a lengthy blackout. Two months and one political revolution later, and things are returning to normality for Egypt's fresh produce players, although the after-effects of February's landmark events are still being felt in some areas.
