The Belgian berry exporter has decided to increase its varietal range, with the addition of redcurrants, blackberries and raspberries to its offering. Belgian company Vanco is a major exporter of strawberries to the UK market. However, this season thecompany intends to extend its product range to include other berries such as redcurrants, blackberries and raspberries. "We have done these products in the past, but only occasionally," reveals the company's Bruno Van Vaerenbergh, who is in charge of UKsales. "In 2011, we would like to have all these items available for the whole season, as a service to our berry customers." In terms of markets, Vanco sends its strawberries to the whole of Europe, with deliveries restricted only by distance. "Due to the limited shelf life we prefer not to send them to customers that are situated too far away from Belgium," says Mr Van Vaerenbergh. "We prefer to deliver the produce the day after we receive them from our growers. Obviously, the UK is one of our main markets. Elsanta is still the most in-demand strawberry over here."
