For perishable products, little is more crucial in the post-harvest process thanmonitoring and controlling the temperature of the cargo during transportation. "Temperature is the big issue, and it's also the one that you can control," affirms Jan-Willem Schrijver, managing director of Locus Traxx's emea operations. Based in Antwerp,the company specialises in temperature and light monitoring equipment, so-called Smart Traxx technology, to address quality issues and reduce waste. "In the past, technology allowed you to find out that something was wrong after you could havecorrected the problem," says Schri-jver. "That's why Locus Traxx was founded. It's ridiculous that a strawberry grower can work and work, and then, as soon as the product is sent, not know what is happening with his berries until it's too late.
