Spain's key citrus production region of Valencia has faced some tough times, but senior figures from the sector explain why optimism still remains strong for this campaign. Valencia's citrus sector, it is probably fair to say, has experienced mixed fortunes of late. Although many leading organisations in the Spanish region - from Citricos Valencianos to the Union of Small Farmers (UPA-PV) - are forecasting a good season ahead, much of the publicity surrounding the sector has been focused on the problems that have dogged interprofessional citrus group Intercitrus in recent months.
