摘要

A brief overview is given of the progress in concepts concerning solonetzes and the solonetzic process as well as the contribution made by V.A. Kovda to these studies. A definition of the solonetzic process is proposed by the author, and the conditions favoring its development are enumerated. Special attention is paid to the ratio of salts concentrations in the soil solution and to the exchangeable bases composition, that characterize the physicochemical aspects of the process. Critical values of parameters are discussed for the salt-ionic composition of solutions that promote secondary solonetzic properties.
