摘要

Better weather, increased planting and wider sourcing will provide a boost to importers during the remainder of the year. The European papaya market can expect a more positive end to the year after dealing with a difficult start overshadowed by shortages from Brazil and disruption to air transport. "The first part of 2010 has been very challenging due to a volume shortage from Brazil (where abnormal weather conditions, mainly a lack of rainfall, have affected production), as well as other unpredictable issues such as airline strikes and disruptions to airfreight services (due to the volcanic ash cloud)," Susanne RaiB, managing director of HLB Tropical Europe, tells Eurofruit Magazine.
