With production set to bounce back this year, kinnow exporters are targeting growth in Russia, the Ukraine and other parts of eastern Europe. A projected increase in exports to Russia, as well as an upturn in direct shipments to the country, is likelyto limit growth in the volume of Pakistani kinnows supplied to Asian markets this season, according to leading exporters. With total export volumes set to rebound in 2007/08 to around 250,000 tonnes follong last season's short cropRussia, Ukraine and other parts of eastern Europe are being targeted in a bid to increase sales further, limiting the impact of growing competition from China and securing an outlet for smaller-sized fruit which, unlike in Asia, are popular with consumers in those markets.
