Mobility is defined as the ability of a chemical element to move from the solid phases of the soil to the liquid phase. The techniques of chemical thermodynamics were used to demonstrate the validity of using 0.01 M CaCl2 and 0.2 N HCl extracts to compare the phosphate concentrations' in the liquid phases of soil systems (first extract) and the amount (reserves) of mobile phosphates in the soils studied (second extract).
