A structural (hierarchical) methodology applied to soil description is regarded as complementary to the process-genetic one. Both functional and arrangement bonds an able to exit between soil morphoelements. The latter have their own spatial areas, which are only partly related to those of other morphoelements as well as to similar districts in terms of their analytical properties, factors, and processes. Investigations of conjugation tightness will permit finding criteria of the structural and functional uniformity and individuality for soil units and biogeocenoses. The way of soil area organization may be alternative in respect to factor-process-genetic explanations of its site. A notion of a soil morpho-process is proposed. It seems possible to specify merons of factor, feature, process, and analytical ones for soil-classification purposes; the rule of meron-taxonomic discrepancy may be realized in some cases.
