The Ecuadorian exporter has secured access to the European and US banana market this year, in line with original objectives set out in 2005. Gill Mcshane reports. LAST year heralded a period of new Dmmercial prospects for Ecuadorian opical and exoticfruits exporter quinox. Followingthe introduction of the new European Union banana import regime in January 2006, the firm has shipped its first bananas volumes to the continent after inking a deal with an Italian importer. The group has also initiated its first plantain shipments to the US via New York, thereby fulfilling last year's goal of opening up new markets around the globe. Despite the success, however, Asia still remains a sticking point, accordingto CEO Juan Francisco Bolanos.
