Premium-priced foods are becoming increasingly important in the UK grocery sector and are likely to be worth over ?27bn in four years' time. It may have been a coincidence, but the opening of the first Whole Foods Markets store in the UK and launch of department store chain John Lewis' much anticipated food hall both appear to provide ample evidence that the premium food sector is becoming increasingly important in British retail.
