However, growing recognition of the fruit among the bulk of the country's population has resulted in mangoes increasingly moving towards becoming a mainstreamproduct; a trend that has prompted leading UK grocery retailer Tesco to embark on its largest-ever Thai mango promotion this year. Mr Jones attributes this impressive new season start to consumer recognition, stronger promotional deals and increased shelf-space in stores."People are familiar with the fruit because we've ranged it before, and this year we have doubled its allocated shelf space. We are trebling our import volumes," he says.
