The threat of terrorist retaliations, a weakened economy and even a hurricane warning took their toll: The International Coatings Expo 20001 (November 5-7, Atlanta) delivered less sucregistration was 5544, with industry attendance down 13% from Dallas in 1999 and 30% from Chicago in 2000. Particulaly noticeable was the decrease in international attendance: Down 62% from Dallas and 64% from Chicago. Yet many ICE people were consoled by the fact that those who did come were indeed "high quality". The event, contrary to rumours, will keep its annual schedule, as was announced in Atlanta. The next venues will be New Orleans (30 October-1 November 2002), Philadel-phia (2003) and Chicago (2004).
