With different salts, spray cabins and - accordingly - different norms, the corrosion performance of a coating can be examined. But the results still vary significantly. One solution might be more throughput of a single coating as well as good maintenance of the test devices, as Serafin Barreiro, Hempel A/S, states. For more reliability, Dr. Peter Plagemann, Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials, recommends the use of different additional test methods, e.g. on an electrochemical basis.
