The conductivity of alkali lead metaphosphate glasses, Li_(0.5-y)Na_(0.5-y)Pb_yPO_3, and oxynitride metaphosphate glasses obtained by ammonolysis of the base 25 mol percent PbO glass, Li_(0.25)Na_(0.25)Pb_(0.25)PO_(3-3x/2)N_x, has been studied by complex impedance spectroscopy. The conductivity of the alkali lead phosphate glasses decreases as a function of the PbO content. However, there is not appreciable change from 25 to 40 mol percent PbO glasses. Changes in conductivity are explained through the alkali concentration, the mixed alkali effect and the structural changes occurring in the glass network as the PbO content increases. On the other hand, the conductivity of the oxynitride phosphate glasses decreases as the nitrogen content increases into the glass network, due to the increased bonding density and covalent character of the glass network after the nitrogen/oxygen substitution.
