摘要

The product design process begins with a statement of vision, values, and "mottos" and then achieves success after iterative prototyping and testing. THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MICROSOFT Office Keyboard exemplifies the contributions that ergonomists can make to the product design process. Ergonomists can not only implement new or redesigned features based on traditional, evaluative research methods, but they also develop new design concepts based on basic ergonomics research, creative ideation, and generative user testing. Over the three years of development on this product, the ergonomics research that led to the innovative Office Keyboard design represents not one study but, rather, a series of 14 studies involving 178 participants. In this article, I describe the team, the process, and the result.
