Success in the marketplace doesn't happen by accident but through the application of human factors/ergonomics user-centered design principles. The product featured in this article won the 2005 HFES Product Design Technical Group's User-Centered Product Design Award. Each year, we invite the developer of the winning product to submit an article describing the work that contributed to the product's success. As with all submissions to Ergonomics in Design, these articles undergo full peer review.
