This article is the third installment in Gear Technology's series of excerpts from Dr. Hermann J. Stadtfeld's book, Gleason Bevel Gear Technology. The first two excerpts can be found in our June 2015 and July 2015 issues. The goal of the following sections is to develop a deeper understanding of the function, limits and possibly the not fully utilized possibilities of bevel and hypoid gears.
