IT IS now widely accepted that Cone Penetration Test (CPT) data can contribute much to the development of well-informed soil models for both on and offshore applications. However, there is still a tendency for CPT to be viewed as a way of acquiring infill classification data validated by conventional borehole data and laboratory testing. Its full capabilities are often under-utilised.
