GEOTECHNICAL specialist contractor Van Elle has completed a challenging soil nail installation on the 300 million pounds M1 widening scheme between junctions 25 and 28 for the MVM consortium of Morgan Est, Vinci and Sir Robert McAlpine. In addition to installing the piling and rock anchors for the sign gantries and retaining walls. Van Elle has also installed over 11,000m of soil nails to stabilise the embankments. Part of this stabilisation work involved a section between Junction 27 and 28, northbound and southbound, close to a Network Rail line where access was an issue.
