During the first half of 2013 shipment of wire for gas shielded welding was down by 14.5% over the same period of the previous year, amounting to ￥83,320 tons. This means that over a period of 6 months shipments dropped by about 14,000 tons. Shipments of welding materials overall, including gas shield welding wire, during the first half of the year were down by around 13%, amounting to 117,749 tons. There was a two-digit drop, except for sealed metal arc welding electrodes for use with mild steel showing an increase of 1.6%.
