摘要

In spite of many advantages, natural gas firing has some major drawbacks in comparison to fuel oil firing in glass melting furnaces. These disadvantages are related to the lower emissivity of natural gas flames compared to oil flames, causing less efficient radiative heat transfer to the glass melt, higher flame temperatures and consequently higher NO_x emission levels. The objectives of this study include the experimental testing of measures to increase the spectral emission of natural gas flames and the evaluation of the potential decrease of NO_x emissions by these measures.
